Math and English Class:
These classes do not have set lesson plans due to differnt levels of learning within the classroom. Each student will progress at their own speed and have an individualized folder for their work. We use Touch Math and Wilson Reading.
Reading Class:
My Reading Class Assignments tab (to the left) has due dates for each assignment. The first two six weeks assignments are on the calendar.
Spelling Tests: We will have spelling tests on most Fridays. Each student will progress at their own rate. Spelling lists are always available in the classroom if they are lost. They should know what words they are responsible for at all times.
Portfolio assisnments: These will be fun, hands on assignments that go along with the novel we read in class. They will be averaged together to give the student their six weeks test.
Vocabulary: We will have 10-12 vocabulary words that go along with the novel we are reading. We will study these words and use them in a sentence. Each student should have these sentences in a spiral notebook. This notebook is NOT to be taken out of the classroom. (They may use this notebook on the semester test if they keep up with it.) They will have time to finish these sentences in class. We do most of them on the board together. After a list is completed, they will have a test over the words.
Comprehension: We read the novel together in class. Students are not required to read aloud, but can if they would like to. We discuss the novel as we read. We will have short comprehension tests as we progress through the book.
Timeline: We will have a timeline that each student makes to go along with the novel we are reading. Each student is responsible for keeping up with their timeline updates. They will be graded periodically. We will discuss each item that is required to be on the timeline and I will give them time to complete these in class.
